JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, the world's tallest hotel, on Monday said revenues during the first half of 2015 rose by 21% "despite challenging global conditions".

The UAE's largest five-star hotel said occupancies across its 1608 rooms remained in excess of 80% leading into Ramadan.

The hotel said in a statement that it also achieved 100% occupancy on more than 30 occasions since its second tower was officially opened in October 2014.

Bill Keffer, JW Marriott Marquis Dubai general manager, said the results were a significant achievement considering the increase in supply of new luxury hotels regionally.

"Supply is up by 6.2% for the city, while overall demand has grown only by 2.5%. This is stark in contrast to JW Marriott Marquis, which has witnessed an increase in demand of more than 40%," he said.

"As a result, JW Marriott Marquis Dubai has continued to drive room revenues by 21%. These positive figures further cement our position as a market leader in the region, as we continue to set the precedent for hospitality industry standards both in the Middle East and internationally."

Operating 1608 rooms and offering over 8000m2 of indoor and outdoor event space, the hotel is the tallest in the world and flagship in the globally renowned Marriott International portfolio.

The hotel boasts nine restaurants, five lounges, a spa, health club and two ballrooms and 32 meeting rooms.
