As of yesterday, the hotel formerly known as Taj Palace Dubai was no longer be run by Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL), which operates Taj hotels, and will be renamed Jood Palace Hotel Dubai, the Economic Times reports.

IHCL, which is run by Tata Group, has issued a statement saying that after operating the hotel for 14 years, the management contract will now be ended.

The statement said: "By virtue of a mutual agreement reached between the erstwhile partners, Taj Palace Hotel, Dubai, which has been successfully run by Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces since 2001, will be handed back to the Juma Al Majid Group."

The hotel will cease to operate as Taj Palace Dubai with effect from 31st August 2015 and will then operate as Jood Palace Hotel, Dubai.

Juma Al Majid Group, a family-owned group of companies in the UAE, which dabbles in investment, contracting and car sales and repair, has recently launched Jood Hospitality, under which they’ll manage the rebranded hotel.

This is the second hotel in the past year with which Taj has ended its management contract, with Taj Palace Marrakech being the first.

During the company's annual general meeting last month, Tata group announced that it would be undergoing an international overhaul.

The other Taj property, Taj Dubai, has recently received a new and restructured debt facility.

It has not been shared whether the Jood Palace Hotel will be refurbished or whether any changes to operational staff will be made
