The Majlis Lobby lounge at City Seasons Muscat is set to transform into an ‘art café’ on the first Wednesday of every month.

Artists from Oman and abroad, professional photographers, painters, sculptors as well as budding artists are invited to exhibit their talent over a period of one month. Debuting with an open house for art aficionados, artists will be present at the venue to discuss their work.

The first Art Café event kicked off with an exhibition from Omani photographer Ahmed Al Toqi who has just been awarded the prestigious National Geographic prize for the best photography in 2015. His winning photo depicted a camel race. The young photographer is currently on exhibition at Majlis Art café until the end of the month.

“We are pleased to serve as a promotional platform for Mr. Al Toqi", said Christian Palacin, general manager, City Seasons Muscat Hotel. “As soon as we saw his work, we felt the need to associate our café with arts and introduce a new concept in Muscat, which has been very popular in Europe for the past few years. The idea is to lay a platform for budding artists and well renowned ones alike, to the public with a combination of good food and quality service.”

Mariette Peens will have the spotlight come next month, and her work will be on show throughout October with the opening night scheduled for Wednesday, October 7th.
