InterContinental has appointed a new area general manager (AGM) and country manager of the group to boost its feeder markets, with a keen eye on Asia.
“To attract more Asian tourists to the InterContinental and Oman is my major mission,” Thierry Perrot told the Times of Oman.
Perrot will assume his new position from January 2016, and is currently the area general manager, Abu Dhabi and general manager Crowne Plaza and IHG Yas Island. A role he is been at for more than four years now.
“We will continue to attract new segments of people to the nation; we want to promote Oman as a fantastic destination,” he added.
According to the new AGM, a hotel under the InterContinental Hotels Group’s Crowne Plaza brand will also be opened within a year.

“A new property of the Intercontinental Hotels Group at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Seeb will be opened soon, in a year’s time,” Perrot also revealed to the national newspaper.
The four-star, 300-room Crowne Plaza Hotel is positioned close to the Muscat International Airport, and will include a two-level basement car park, a ground floor, mezzanine and six additional floors with standard guestrooms, junior and executive suites and a presidential suite, in addition to a ballroom, an executive lounge, all-day dining restaurant and a specialty restaurant.
It will be the second Crowne Plaza hotel in the capital city, Times of Oman reported.
The newly appointed AGM was introduced to the guests, who had gathered at the Tiki Garden of the InterContinental by the preceding AGM David Todd on Monday.
A farewell party for David Todd was attended by ambassadors to the Sultanate, officials from the government, and special guests of the InterContinental management.
