Room earnings in Abu Dhabi picked up by 8% when compared to the same period in the previous year.

Room earnings in Abu Dhabi picked up by 8% when compared to the same period in the previous year, as hotels in the emirate welcomed 3.72 million guests in the first eleven months of 2015.

The figures indicates an increase of 18% or 565,760 compared with 3.15 million received in 2014, according to official data released by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority.

The research revealed that guests spent a total of 10.88 nights at the emirates hotels, up by 1.41 million nights or 15% in the 11-month period.

Hotels in Abu Dhabi added US$103.3m (AED379.7m) in new revenues bringing the 11-month total to $1.6bn (AED5.9bn), against $1.52bn (AED5.6bn) in the same period last year, representing an increase of 6.2%.

Room earnings picked up by 8% to $871m (AED3.2bn), while revenues from food and beverages stabilised at $571m (AED2.1bn).

The recent figures support the emirates strategy to attract 3.9m tourists to Abu Dhabi during 2015, and marks strong tourism performance throughout the year as more hotels opened, adding hundreds of new rooms.

The number of Indian nationals who stayed at Abu Dhabi’s hotels in the first eleven months of the past year was the largest among foreign guests, reaching 250,000.

Out of the total number of guests, 1.24m were locals and residents.
