Yesterday, IHG hit the 5,000 mark with its global hotel count.

The latest launch in the InterContinental Hotels Group portfolio is the Hotel Indigo, just opened in New York.

Following the new launch, IHG revealed further expansion plans for the Middle East, with new hotels already signed for Dubai.

The new properties, expected to open ahead of Expo 2020, are two additional hotels under the ‘Hotel Indigo’ brand.

So far, confirmed plans for the brand include Hotel Indigo Dubai, The Sustainable City, and Hotel Indigo Dubai, Business Bay (both due to open in 2017).

Following the company’s landmark 5,000th opening, IHG CEO Richard Solomons commented: “Over time we have built a leading portfolio of hotel brands and scale where it matters most. Alongside our network of owner relationships and powerful digital platforms, these remain the key drivers behind our consistently strong performance.

“The recent landmark openings that make up our ‘5,000 Club’ also demonstrate the momentum behind our brand portfolio and our ability to increase our presence in the world’s most important growth markets.”
