The Sultanate of Oman is expected to witness a surge in tourism with the activities of the sixteenth edition of the Muscat Festival.

Oman is anticipating a surge in tourism with the activities of the sixteenth edition of the Muscat Festival, held between January 14 and February 13 2016.

This year’s edition of the country's biggest cultural event will exhibit the Sultanate's historical legacy, arts and culture, goods and services.

The event will offer a mixture of old and new attractions, ranging from folk poetry, an interactive village, the 'village of dinosaurs', Omani fashion shows, car shows, cultural events, sports competitions, heritage and family village and fireworks displays.

The Ministry of Tourism is a Gold Sponsor of the festival and has reaffirmed its commitment to support and promote Muscat Festival as a 'must-see' event when visiting the Sultanate.

According to official expectations, the month-long festivities are expected to draw in more than two million visitors, representing a substantial boost to the local tourism economy.

Oman Ministry of Tourism Director General of Tourism Promotion and member of the organizing committee of Muscat Festival Salim Edi Al Mamari said: “We are confident that this year's edition of the Muscat Festival will be able to draw in more visitors to the Sultanate, giving them the opportunity to explore and learn more about the beauty, heritage and culture of Oman.”

Al Mamari added: “In line with this major event, the Ministry of Tourism expressed its strong support for the festival and highly recommends it to all tourists visiting the country.”
