Thailand-based Centara Hotels and Resorts will open a property in Muscat, Doha and Dubai.

Centara revealed that the Muscat property in Oman will be branded four-star, and feature 152 rooms along with a luxury spa. The property will have substantial MICE facilities keeping in tune with Oman’s efforts to market the destination as a MICE hub.

The hotel will have four meeting rooms and a ballroom and will open in Q4 2016.

Centara Hotels & Resorts COO Chris Bailey told Hotelier Middle East exclusively: “We see the Middle East as a strategic and extremely important part of our global expansion plans.

“In addition to our confirmed projects in Dubai, Muscat and Doha there are projects in the pipeline in Saudi Arabia and Iran. It is very important we continue to expand throughout the region to develop brand recognition and coverage.”

The group will also open two properties in Doha, Qatar. First of which will open in Q4 2016 and will be branded five-star, as Centara Grand, which will be situated in the West Bay area in Doha. The company also confirmed that the hotel will have five F&B outlets, a function area and ballrooms. A second property under Centara's residences banner will open in 2017.

The 261-key property will feature rooms, out of which 96 units will be divided into serviced apartments to the tune of one- to two-bedroom.

“We see the benefit of the region for two main reasons. Firstly, the ability to expose our family of brands close to home for a very important market and client base to our business and secondly, as the region continues to grow in popularity, to leverage our current distribution channels and client database - who enjoy our brands, products and services in Asia and the Indian Ocean.”

Finally, not too many details were divulged about the Dubai property, but the firm did confirm it was working with property developers Nakheel to open its Centara Grand Residence & Suites aimed towards long-stay guests, that will open in 2018.
