Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts (MHR) has announced that it will operate its third property in Doha from May 1, in line with the brand's move to capitalise on Qatar hosting the 2022 World Cup

The 139-room Mövenpick Hotel Al Aziziyah Doha, located in the city’s Aspire Zone, also known as Doha Sports City, will take over the space formerly occupied by the Grand Heritage Hotel Doha.

The new launch joins Mövenpick Hotel Doha and Mövenpick Hotel West Bay Doha in the city.

“This property already has a loyal guest following and we look forward to building on this legacy, showcasing Mövenpick’s unique style of Swiss hospitality,” commented Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts Middle East and South Asia chief operating officer Andreas Mattmüller.

Aspire Zone is due to play a critical role in the run up to the World Cup and Mövenpick Hotel Al Aziziyah Doha hopes to host international sports teams as well as corporate groups that are holding events at the nearby Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).

The property, owned by E’EMAR Development & Real Estate Investment, includes various F&B outlets, including Turkish restaurant Agora and Blue, which is known for its sushi and steaks.

E’EMAR Development & Real Estate Investment chief operating officer Khalid Badrieh said: “As we embark on a new phase for our hotel asset, in partnership with Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, we are well positioned to meet growing demand from visitors choosing Qatar as a premium destination for sports, business and leisure tourism.”
