Hyatt has big plans for the GCC region, and not just in the UAE but in Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Hyatt Hotels regional vice president sales operations Middle East & Africa Christian Pertl told Hotelier Middle East exclusively at ATM 2016: “We are going to open three more hotels in Doha, three more in Dubai – adding to the six we are currently operating. We are finally going to open in Abu Dhabi with the Grand [Hyatt], which is exciting, and Saudi Arabia.”

Pertl gave more insight on the new hotel openings and the timeframe of them going live on the market.

“[In Doha] Park Hyatt is scheduled to open in 2017, the very first Hyatt Centric in this part of the world which will open in 2017 in Doha. The third opening will be a serviced apartment project.”

He added: “We have kind of been pioneers in Dubai anyway, what we are going to focus in Dubai is on the mid-scale market with our Hyatt Place brand."

"We already have two hotels that have recently opened and we are going to have another two in the next two years. Potentially also, some other brands to come in.”

Saudi remains a crucial market for the US hotelier and Pertl revealed which new hotels will come up there. “We already have our Park Hyatt in Jeddah, and last year we opened our Hyatt Regency in Makkah.”

He added: “We are going to open the Hyatt Regency in Riyadh by Q4 this year and then we are going to have a couple of Hyatt Places and Hyatt Houses, which is long stay, between Riyadh and Jeddah in the next two-three years.”
