R Hotels has appointed Gayan Weerasinghe as cluster pastry chef for three properties in Dubai.
Weerasinghe will now oversee the pastry kitchens at Ramada Downtown Dubai, Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham JBR and ibis Styles Jumeira.
The Sri Lankan national will be responsible for directing confectionary created across the three hotels, and also required to work closely with the respective head chefs of the three hotels.
Weerasinghe has previously worked under award-winning pastry chef Frederic Scailteur.
Weerasinghe worked his way through various roles in the GCC, starting as commis in the pre-opening team of the The Torch Doha. His career later took him on to the Ramee Grand Hotel, where he was chef de partie for the pre-opening team. Weerasinghe's previous role before joining R Hotels in Dubai was as acting sous chef for Art Rotana Amwaj Islands in Bahrain.
