Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has appointed Ramzi Shaban as its general manager for the new Mövenpick Hotel City Star Jeddah.

In his new role as Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts general manager, Ramzi Shaban will have overall responsibility for launching the Mövenpick Hotel City Star Jeddah - a five-star property scheduled to open on June 1 2016.

Shaban has 17 years of experience in the Middle East hotel industry, of which 11 have been working at a number of Mövenpick Hotel & Resorts across the region.

Commenting on his new role, Shaban said: "I am honoured to have this exciting opportunity to continue working with Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts and I am looking forward to launching this remarkable property with my fantastic team later this year.

"The opening will further strengthen our presence in the Kingdom and this will be our 11th property in Saudi Arabia with another four additional projects planned to be launched by 2018."

Shaban is set to embark on his third senior management appointment in the MENA region having previously held positions in the Mövenpick Hotel & Resort Al Bida'a in Kuwait and the Mövenpick Hotel Sana'a in Yemen.

The 228-room and suites Mövenpick Hotel City Star Jeddah is located in the centre of Jeddah, and features eight meeting rooms, a ballroom for up to 600 guests, three dining outlets, spa and a rooftop pool.
