Cristal Group has entered into a management agreement with Harco Erbil to operate the first Emerald mid-market hotel in Erbil.

Cristal Group will be rolling out its mid-market brand Emerald in Erbil, Iraq, with further developments planned in the UAE, KSA, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Iraq, according to an official release.

Making the announcement, Cristal Group COO Kamal Fakhoury said: “Emerald is our mid-market brand and we are proud to debut it in Kurdistan within the Lebanese Village development that will in fact be the first signature property to carry the Emerald flag.”

He continued: “Erbil is an attractive hub for business as well as leisure travelers and is one of the safest destinations in Iraq.”

Harco Erbil representative Mustafa Hariri said: “At the moment we are witnessing remarkable growth in tourism in Kurdistan that has resulted in increasing demand for quality mid-market hotels and we are confident, Emerald Erbil will establish itself as a preferred choice in the sector”.

The Emerald is part of a 240,000sqm mixed use development in Erbil and will feature 196 hotel apartment suites, four dining outlets, three meeting rooms, gym, Cristal Spa and a retail centre.

Emerald Erbil is the group’s second property in Erbil and its third in Iraq. Phase one of the hotel is expected to be ready for operation from September 1 2016.
