The Six Senses Zighy Bay resort in Oman, after being open for eight years, is undergoing a partial refurbishment.

According to resort manager Greg Kocsis, this includes every room.

“We aim to touch up each and every villa by the end of the year latest and be ready for the high season,” he told Hotelier Middle East.

In addition to the changes, Kocsis admits that the region is becoming more and more competitive, which makes it important for the property to introduce new experiences, and focus on the service.

“We're continuously trying to come up with unique experiences which is in our DNA when it comes to Six Senses,” Kocsis said.

The property, as part of a company-wide directive, is focusing on wellness. Sense on the Edge, the fine dining F&B outlet of the property is on course to maximise the use of local produce, and Kocsis said that “farm to table will have a new definition with Zighy Bay”.

The outlook for the next few months is positive, according to Kocsis, adding that the only downside is that “the perception about the region is mixed because of the sad events over the last few months”.

He concluded: “We are trying very hard to change the perception because it's very far from reality and I find Oman and the UAE the safest places on earth.”
