Abu Dhabi International has reported a 4.8% increase in passengers in April, according to operator Abu Dhabi Airports. The airport saw 1.96 million passengers in April 2016 compared to 1.87 million a year earlier.
April’s figures bring year-to-date passenger numbers at Abu Dhabi International to 8 million, up 8.3%.
“Abu Dhabi is growing, both as a global tourism destination and strategic transit hub and this is clear from the fact that we are still seeing a year on year increase in traveller numbers at AUH. Several destinations in particular have seen a rise in passenger traffic including India, Germany, Thailand, the UK and Italy,” stated Abu Dhabi Airports Acting Chief Operations Officer Mohammad Al Katheeri.
