Domestic tourism was the primary source of guests for Ajman hotels in the first quarter, resulting in guest arrivals and tourism revenue increasing 20%.
The emirate of Ajman recorded a 20% increase in both guest arrivals and tourism revenue in the first quarter of 2016, according to a statement from the Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD).
The latest data indicates that from January to March 2016, the number of guests reached 142,404, while guest nights stood at 313,724.
“The report for the first quarter of 2016 is the result of our effective promotional and marketing outreach to attract different segments of visitors to the emirate of Ajman. Our presence in different travel and tourism exhibitions and road shows has helped us a lot because we have seen remarkable interests from the industry when we presented to them what are available in Ajman in terms of attractions, accommodations and activities,” stated ATDD general manager Faisal Al Nuaimi.

The occupancy rate of hotel apartments touched 76% in the first quarter, compared to 62.4% in the same period in 2015.
In the first quarter of 2016, there were 36 establishments in Ajman, with a total of 3,192 rooms and units.
