Rumours have been circulating around the hospitality industry for several months that Qbara will close its Wafi location and relocate to a new district of Dubai. This week, new information regarding this has arisen.

According to staff members at the restaurant, Qbara in Wafi is expected to close permanently this week, with the last operational day at Qbara being Friday June 3.

Staff at Qbara have said that the restaurant will close its doors in Wafi, in order to relocate to DIFC.

Despite this, in reponse to Caterer Middle East's requests for comment this week from Jas Hospitality, the group has released the following in response:

"A leading light and a firm favorite on the Dubai culinary and nightlife scene, Qbara expects to be closed from June 3 until July 5, although actual dates may vary slightly. Regulars, old and new friends can look forward to meeting up again after this date."

Guests attempting to make a restaurant reservation either via phone or via the Qbara website will find that the restaurant is not accepting bookings after Friday June 3 2016.

Caterer Middle East has also not been able to make reservations for late July, after Ramadan is expected to be finished, and have been told via reservations staff that the Wafi restaurant is not expected to reopen, and will relocate to DIFC.

The restaurant was opened by Jas Hospitality in November 2013 to much critical acclaim, both for being one of Dubai’s first home-grown fine dining concepts, and for its innovative interpretation of modern Middle Eastern cuisines.

This week, social media is awash with Qbara diners bidding goodbye to the Wafi-based venue, primarily chefs and other hospitality professionals, including former members of the Qbara team.
