Park Rotana Abu Dhabi in association with Brighton College Abu Dhabi organised a Children’s Art Fair for the second year running, as part of the World Environment Day celebrations.

Park Rotana general manager Marc de Beer commented: “As part of our Rotana Earth initiatives we strive to create a positive long term impact within the communities in which we operate, and we regard the education of young minds about the importance of environmental conservation to be an activity of the highest value.”

The exhibition was held at the hotel whereby students from the pre-prep school sections showcased 12 original and creative pieces of art all made from recyclable items.

Under the umbrella theme ‘Join the race to make the world a better place’, the different items represented a myriad of themes such as, ‘First line sea defenders’, ‘Floating island’, ‘Polar decline, race against time” and ‘The domino effect’.

The purpose of the art is to raise awareness on the importance of issues including waste management, environmental conservation, marine protection and climate change.

Each class group crafted, coloured, moulded and painted their project that symbolised what World Environment Day means to them.

The art was up for online voting until the June 1, with the winning group taking home a special prize and certificates.

Brighton College head of pre-prep Joanna Vigneron said: “Raising awareness amongst children about realities such as resource depletion, population growth and climate change is key to their development”

She added: “We want them to understand their environmental responsibility early on in life so that as young men and women, and later on as adults, they may lead the way to a greener healthier planet for all”.
