Alto-Shaam expert training

Profile:

Alto-Shaam is a global manufacturer of commercial foodservice equipment. To meet the needs of its clients, it conducts trainings led by a team of chefs representing different corners of the world to support the Middle East and Africa region. This team is led by Alto-Shaam international corporate chef Nicolas Tsikis with 40 years of experience in the foodservice industry.

Why is the mid-market hospitality sector so attractive to Alto-Shaam?

We shifted our attention to the growing mid-market sector a few years ago, because Alto-Shaam products fit the demand that has been created with this growth. For example, our CT express combi oven and our smallest cook and hold ovens have the smallest footprint in this product category in our industry. These powerful and compact ovens are used to prepare a wide variety of items for a scrumptious breakfast, a speedy a la carte lunch and the demanding dinner buffet or brunch.

How will Alto-Shaam differentiate itself from other suppliers?

We pride ourselves of having the best customer service as we have our own Culinary Institute and dedicated area for customers to develop their menus with one of our chefs. At the same time, we are the only ones in the industry with 24/7 tech support through our service partner McFarlane. We’ve also created efficient equipment solutions for any kitchen operation – from the biggest banqueting hall to the smallest corner bistro.

Tell us about product that you are seeing greatest demand for in the ME region?

Our smoker ovens are in great demand. We have noticed there is a trend for having smoked food items to complement great meals. Since we opened our Culinary Institute, we have noticed that the main interest of our clients revolves around smoking anything from chocolate to seafood and to olive oil.

Why do mid-market hoteliers choose you over others on the market?

We have a variety of equipment in our product offering that fit this market segment, from our waterless food wells to our combi smokers. At the same time, most of our buyers are returning customers who have experienced a good quality product for years. So they know why to choose us: our products are built to last.

What are the obstacles in developing your business in this region?

We opened our dedicated Middle East and Africa office just a few months ago. While our products are well known in the foodservice industry, a lot of work went into our office to provided dedicated resources for chefs in this area. Now that we have laid the foundation for future growth, we look forward to growing our business and strengthening the culinary community in the Middle East and Africa.

Do you have mid-market expansion plans in the region?

We recently introduced our slim line waterless hot wells that fit a narrow footprint. We engineered this design due to customers who wanted our hot wells, but needed the hot wells manufactured to fit their space constraints. We decided to offer these wells to the general market based on our customers’ needs. The waterless hot wells provide better quality food and are safer and easier to operate than steam tables. We do have additional products that are in research and development. We look forward to introducing these time-saving kitchen solutions to the market in late 2016.
