The president and founder of The International Association of Hotel General Managers (IAHGM), Leon Larkin, is set to hear from GMs at the Hotelier Middle East: Great GM Debate in order to assist them in meeting their objectives.
Sponsoring the event for the first time, the IAHGM was founded in early 2016, and Larkin said the main challenges facing UAE hotel GMs this year include: oversupply; competition for qualified staff; training of staff in cultural differences between various markets; and new markets from Asia having different needs to current markets.
Larkin told Hotelier: "What excites me about the UAE hotel industry this year is the growth, the job opportunities, and the increased focus on people development."

The main topics he expects to come up at the Hotelier Middle East: Great GM Debate include: technology in the hospitality industry, high costs for travellers visiting Dubai, and security challenges.
