Indian chef and restaurateur Gaggan Anand, known for his progressive Indian restaurant Gaggan in Bangkok, has confimed his interested in opening a restaurant in Dubai.

Speaking to Caterer Middle East during the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Award in Milan, Italy, Anand said: "We are already talking about [opening] in Dubai."

He continued: " Why Dubai? Dubai is one of the cities where Indian food is more accepted than Thailand, so I would love to go. How soon? That depends on the deal, but nothing before the end of next year."

He revealed that it will not be similar to Gaggan, and explained: "I am not giving away 'Gaggan'; it's my baby." He did not elaborate on the proposed concept.

Anand noted: "I’m going to create something which is a money spinner."

Anand has previously said that he will close Gaggan in 2020 and told Caterer that he will then open a 10-seater restaurant in Japan.
