Farnek Middle East's Sandrine Le Biavant presents the Green Globe certification to Kempinski Hotel MOE GM Michael R Payne.
The Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates (MOE), has achieved Green Globe certification, after meeting key criteria to achieve premium sustainability performance.
Accepting the certification on behalf of Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates, general manager Michael R Payne said in a statement: "We would like to extend our thanks to Green Globe for recognising the extraordinary efforts we have made to improve our sustainable performance, and for working with us to identify additional areas where we can focus our efforts over the coming 12 months."
One year ago, the Kempinski Hotel MOE re-opened after a US $100.20 million (AED 368 million) refurbishment project.
Sandrine Le Biavant, director consultancy at Farnek Middle East, Green Globe’s preferred partner in the Middle East, added: "The hotel has invested significantly in energy efficiency programmes and we have been monitoring the quarterly results of energy and water consumption, as well as waste generation. According to our Hotel Optimizer benchmarking software, the Kempinski Hotel is in a leadership position compared with other city hotels in Dubai.”
Since 2013, Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates has been LEED Silver certified for existing building, operations and maintenance and is currently in line with its 3% energy saving targets for 2016, with 90% of all lights replaced by LED lighting.
