SKAI Holdings has completed of Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai, a $1.17bn (AED4.3bn) hotel located in the UAE.

The resort, which is the first hotel and residences to be completed by SKAI, is on course to open to guests in March 2017.

Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai comprises 477 rooms and suites, 221 Viceroy Residences, 10 restaurants and nightlife venues, a spa, a beach, a pool, health and wellness areas, and a children’s club.

The Dubai-based developer was awarded a building permit and completion certificate (BCC) from Trakhees on 14 November, 2016, more than two weeks ahead of schedule.

Originally scheduled to open in 2016, Hotelier Middle East earlier reported gm Mikael Svensson call the delay a 'blessing in disguise'. 

SKAI has also begun to hand over the development’s 221 signature Viceroy Residences to owners.

SKAI group chief executive officer Kabir Mulchandani said: “The completion of our flagship project, Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai, ahead of schedule is testament to SKAI’s commitment and confidence in Dubai’s growing hospitality sector.

“Over the last two years, the SKAI team and our partners, China State Construction Engineering Corporation Middle East (CSCEC ME) have been on site overseeing more than 4,000 staff to ensure its completion," Mulchandani added.

Viceroy Hotel Group CEO Bill Walshe said: “The completion of the Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai marks the opening of our first hotel in Dubai, and is an important milestone in our continued growth in the region.

Commenting on the hotel’s design, Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai general manager Mikael Svensson added: “Inspired by the amphitheatre-like design of the hotel, we have embraced the concept of theatre. Each Viceroy colleague will undertake training with a theatrical troupe to enhance our level of guest engagement, and service spontaneity.”

Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai is situated at the base of Palm Jumeirah’s trunk, a short drive from locations such as Dubai Marina, Dubai Media City, Mall of the Emirates, and Downtown Dubai.
