Steigenberger Hotel Business Bay, Dubai has appointed Stephen Meredith as the new general manager after having joined the hotel as executive assistant manager in May 2016.

Meredith has taken over from Steigenberger Middle East vice president Siegfried Nierhaus, who had assumed the role of acting general manager for the property for the last six months.

He holds an undergraduate management development program degree, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the School of Business Leadership - University of South Africa.

As EAM of the hotel, he helped establish and strengthen the hotel’s operational departments, including the concept creation and launch of The Backyard in October 2016.

Meredith said in a statement: "I am delighted to take up the position of general manager of this incredibly sophisticated hotel, with its unique outlets, exceptional standards of German hospitality, and prime position within the Business Bay area. I look forward to leading the team into 2017 and to continue to raise the bar as one of the leading hotels of Dubai."

Nierhaus added: "There is no better candidate to take up the role of general manager of the Steigenberger than Stephen – with his vast and relevant experience and expertise in the hospitality sector, and the strong results he has already delivered for the hotel. I wish him all the success in leading the hotel to where he envisions it to be.”

With 26 years of hospitality and F&B experience, Meredith has worked for many international brands across Africa, Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia.

Some of his career roles include: food and beverage manager for the Cascades Hotel in Sun City, where he was also in charge of the Lost City Convention Centre, hosting events such as Miss World and The Nedbank Gold Challenge; director of F&B of the Convention Centre at Madinat Jumeirah Group and Jumeirah Hospitality, Dubai; F&B director of InterContinental Hotels Group, Bangkok; and director of F&B at Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, Abu Dhabi.

The Steigenberger Hotel Business Bay, Dubai, is owned by Twenty14 Holdings, the hospitality investment arm of LuLu Group International, and operated by Steigenberger under a management contract.
