Al Zorah CEO Imad Dana has said that construction for the second hotel within the Al Zorah development has commenced, and once it opens, will be operated by Lux Resorts & Hotels — which is making its debut in the UAE.
The property will be located adjacent to The Oberoi Beach Resort Al Zorah. Dana told Hotelier Middle East: “We have already started construction and the operator we signed with is Lux — new to the UAE but very famous in the Indian Ocean in Mauritius and Maldives, as well as China.”
Asserting that the selection of an operator is very important, Dana said the property needed another 18 months before opening.
He further revealed: “We are talking with several investors for two or three more resorts but we are still at the initial stages. Opening The Oberoi will speed up this process.”
Al Zorah will also play home to a wellness retreat and health spa, operated by The LifeCo. The venue will be located within the golf course with ground-breaking to take place this year.

It is the first wellness concept of its kind in the region, and the facility will offer professional therapeutic massages to beauty treatments, stress management, weight control, nutritional and exercise programmes.
Dana confirmed that the construction will begin soon, and that the project fits the overall development seamlessly. He added: “The design is approved and it will have around 50 rooms, so it’s like a hotel but you check in only for detox.”
Dana said hospitality is an important part of the master development, and concluded: “All what we have done is to enhance the experience, [which is] all geared towards hospitality. Hospitality comes first, then sustainability and the remaining is real estate.”
