The Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait at Burj Alshaya is set to open on September 1, 2017. Initially, the property was scheduled to open in Q1 2017.

“We have a great owner that is focused on a quality product, and in order for us to open we need to feel confident about the product and the details. We believe that the day we open there should be no construction going on,” said the hotel’s general manager Didier Jardin.

“Sometimes you hear of openings that are rushed, but at Four Seasons we believe in opening the best product along with the owner,” said Four Seasons regional vice president and general manager Rami Sayess adding, “there were no delays, it was just a mutual agreement between both parties.”

Jardin added: “The rooms are in fact ready and we finishing the product in terms of the lobby, a few touches here and there. The interiors have been done by Yabu Pushelberg of Canada, and when it comes to the avant-garde type of modern building, it’s completely different from what Kuwait has seen in the past.

“Kuwaitis travel to Four Seasons located in other parts of the world, and frankly could not wait to have their own in the country,” he said.

Jardin also said the hotel’s F&B offerings and banquet space – of which the hotel has 3000 m2 – are elements that will attract the Kuwaiti population to the prop erty.

“People are looking for that brand with luxury, which will enable them to do their first wedding with a Four Seasons experience. There was a gap in the market, especially with luxury and a missing link, which paved the way [for this development],” he said.

Speaking on Kuwait’s developing landscape, Sayess said: “We have also noticed when a brand like Four Seasons enters an emerging market it brings a lot of confidence. It was strategic from our point of view, and a natural continuation of our expansion in the GCC.

With the opening of the Four Seasons Kuwait in 2018, the North American operator will be present in five out of the six GCC countries – with Oman as the only exception. To this Sayess said: “We were in talks with somebody in Oman which is on and off.”
