Marriott International and Khamas Group of Investment LLC signed an agreement for a Courtyard by Marriott and Residence Inn by Marriott in Dubai’s Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC) development.

Scheduled to open in 2020, the two hotels combined will add 250 rooms to Marriott’s portfolio in the United Arab Emirates and is set to further strengthen the company's regional presence in the mid-market segment.

"We are excited to work with the Khamas Group to open a new Courtyard and Residence Inn in the up and coming JVC Development which is strategically located and in close proximity to the site of the World Expo in 2020," said Jerome Briet, vice president – lodging development, Middle East, Marriott International, in a statement.

"Not only does this agreement illustrate our commitment to growing Marriott International’s portfolio in the UAE but it also reinforces the demand for mid-market hotel development in the market," he added.

Courtyard by Marriott JVC will offer 150 rooms and Residence Inn by Marriott JVC will add another 100 rooms to the upcoming development.  The interconnected hotel complex will share facilities including food and beverage outlets, a health and leisure club with a swimming pool and meeting spaces.

The hotels will be located in close proximity to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, providing convenient access to Dubai’s main business districts and leisure attractions.  The development is also situated within a 25 minute drive to the main site of The World Expo in 2020 and the Al Maktoum International Airport.

WSW Architects have been appointed to lead the project and WA International will manage the interior design.

Courtyard by Marriott currently operates six properties across the Middle East and Africa and will more than double its presence in the region with 12 properties set to open in the next five years.  Residence Inn by Marriott will add 11 new properties across the region in the next five years, adding to its current of portfolio of three hotels.
