Taking home the IT Person of Year at the Hotelier Middle East Awards 2017 last night was Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts – Jordan Khalid Omari.
Omari oversees the smooth operations of the five properties of the Mövenpick Jordan, in addition to occasionally offering his technical expertise to support the other Movenpick hotels in the Middle East.
He has spearheaded a number of upgrades throughout the properties, and clustered the reservation office reducing the incidence of missed calls from guests. His upgrades have also resulted in reduced labour costs and maintenance fees, as well as allowing his colleagues to access data from just about anywhere.
Omari fought off competition from a strong list of nominees, including: Anita Julie Lobo, cluster technology manager, IHG Kuwait, Krishnaraj Jayaram, IT Manager, Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara, Mirza Ehsan Ulhaq, IT Manager, Crowne Plaza Jeddah, Snebu Samuel, IT Manager, InterContinental Abu Dhabi and Zufri Sally, Assistant IT Manager, Jumeirah Creekside Hotel.
Unfortunately Omari could not make it, but his award was collected by one of his colleagues. Dima Jaradat from Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts – Jordan commented on Omari's win and said: "Khalid excels at making sure our IT department is the best, he's the IT geek of the hotel. He isn't here today as he is currently on a work trip visiting hotels in Saudi Arabia making sure all their IT departments are all up to date."
The Highly Commended nominee in this category is IHG Kuwait’s Anita Julie Lobo.
