Courtyard by Marriott World Trade Centre, Abu Dhabi has appointed Chandra Swamy as the hotel's executive chef.

With 24 years of experience in the restaurant industry, Swamy will lead culinary efforts and menu innovation for the hotel’s three outlets - Bistro, Fifth Street Café, and Up & Below. He will also oversee all culinary operations for the hotel’s corporate and social catering services.

Swamy started cooking at a young age, inspired by his family, and graduated from the Institute of Hotel Management Bangalore in 1995. Since then he has has worked in a number of hotels and hospitality organisations including Oberoi Hotel and Carnival Cruise Lines.

The chef joined Marriott Hotels & Resorts as a sous chef at the Marriott Beach Resort, Grand Cayman in 2006. During his time there, he was awarded Associate of the Year in 2008 from Marriott. His participation in the Cayman Culinary Competitions every year won him six gold medals across different categories, and he was also lauded as Chef de Chasseur for the most innovative Caribbean Dish in 2008.

In 2010, Swamy joined Marriott Harbor Hotel in Dubai as a sous chef, and managed its rooftop restaurant The Observatory. Within two years he became the head chef. He was merited with the Middle East and Africa Rising Star for 2012 & MEA ACE Executive Chef of the Year in 2013 & 2014 by Marriott International. In 2013, under his leadership, the hotel earned the best HACCP Dubai Municipality Award and achieved the A rating.
