Analysts at Lodging Econometrics (LE) have reported that the Construction Pipeline Trend Report for the Middle East states that the total pipeline has 572 projects/156,420 rooms, up 12% by projects year-over-year.

There are 349 projects/100,485 rooms under construction, up 17% by projects YOY. Those scheduled to start construction in the next 12 months are at 113 projects and 30,841 rooms, up 5%, while projects in early planning at 110 projects and 25,094 rooms, which are up 3%.

The top hotel companies in the Middle East’s construction pipeline are: Marriott International with 95 projects and 22,767 rooms; Hilton with 86 projects/24,197 rooms; and AccorHotels with 84 projects and 24,838 rooms.

The largest brand in the pipeline for each of the these companies are: Marriott’s Courtyard with 195 projects across 3,998 rooms, Hilton’s full-service hotel with 28 projects and 10,151 rooms and Accor’s Novotel with 14 projects and 3,865 rooms.

The top countries in the Middle East construction pipeline are: Saudi Arabia with 198 projects and 60,249 rooms, and the United Arab Emirates with 194 projects and 55,264 rooms. Cities in the Middle East with the largest pipelines are: Dubai, UAE with 145 projects and 40,733 rooms, and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia with 53 projects and 10,425 rooms.
