Six Senses Zighy Bay has purchased its own fleet of seven of Nissan’s Pathfinder SV 4WD Hybrid vehicles, which will transport guests to the resort and take them for out-of-the-ordinary experiences in the surrounding region.

Guests arriving at the border for transfer to the resort will get their first experience of the new vehicles, as they enjoy the off-road approach to Six Senses Zighy Bay, while the hybrid vehicles will also be used to take them to Sense on the Edge, the resort’s fine dining experience on the mountaintop high above Zighy Bay.

For adventurous guests, the cars will be used for excursions to Dibba town and the resort’s own farm and to the marina to enjoy a cruise from the Dhahab yacht. Adrenaline seeking guests can make use of the vehicles to transport them to paragliding from the mountaintop or for off-roading trips to the Sabatyn plateau to experience the untamed beauty of the Hajar Mountains.

General manager, Aaron McGrath, said of the decision, “Until now, we’ve been using vehicles from a partner over which we have no real control of their environmental credentials; something which is incredibly important to our sustainability initiatives. We reviewed the vehicles available in our market and concluded that the Pathfinder SV 4WD Hybrid would be best suited to Six Senses Zighy Bay.

“We took in to consideration the various uses we would have for the vehicles and what we’d be asking of them in terms of off-road and on-road capabilities, comfort requirements, and of course their ability to help us reduce our carbon footprint. With its 2.5l supercharged 4-cylinder petrol engine, combined with an electric motor, its fuel efficiency is rated as 24 percent better than a conventional mid-sized SUV, so we feel we’re on the right path with our choice,” McGrath added.
