Emaar Properties will mark the Chinese New Year, the year of the dog, by lighting up the Burj Khalifa and will pay tribute to the thousands of Chinese residents living in the UAE.

The proposed light show will start with a flying dragon taking flight from the Great Wall of China, soaring high in the sky, and touring over Dubai's landmarks before marking a splash at The Dubai Fountain. Later, it will swirl up and fly around the Burj Khalifa before releasing a shiny pearl onto the building’s spire, a statement said.

At the end, the light show will include a ‘Happy New Year’ message in Chinese, the statement added.

The light show will complement the line-u of festivities at the Dubai Mall which includes taking visitors on a journey through China's provinces, covering various region-specific art forms including music, traditional dance, arts, crafts and cultural demonstrations.

Chine is Dubai’s biggest trading partner and more than 253,000 Chinese nationals live in Dubai.
