Sir Richard Branson revealed that the first Virgin Hotel outside the US is set to open in Edinburgh by 2020.
The 225-room hotel will be built in partnership with owner Flemyn and developer Jansons Property, will be managed by Virgin Hotels and asset managed by Siggis Capital.

Virgin's Edinburgh hotel will open its doors a year ahead of Marriott International's W Hotel which is due to open in 2021.

However not everyone is pleased with this new announcement. The Scotsman reports some of Scotland’s best-known writers, artists and academics have slammed Edinburgh city council’s decision to permit a Virgin hotel near the Capital’s Central Library.
The report adds that the city's historic India Buildings will be coverted in to 225-room, 11-storey hotel, which will allegedly block an estimated 82% of natural light from the library.
