Dur Hospitality CEO Badr AlBadr has said that the company is currently bullish on the Saudi Arabia hospitality market, with no immediate plans to expand beyond the Kingdom.

Speaking to Hotelier Middle East on the sidelines of the Arabian Hotel Investment Conference (AHIC), Dr AlBadr said when asked about the possibility of operating beyond Saudi Arabia: “We ask ourselves that question regularly. Every time we examine the circumstances and we see that we have an advantage by understanding the market in Saudi Arabia. The market is still growing very rapidly so we don’t see a reason at this moment to branch out. We will double down and focus on the market in Saudi Arabia and then we will examine that question again.”

Dur Hospitality is increasing its focus on Makkah and Madinah with its Makarem strategy, revealed Dr AlBadr, and noted that there are more than 6,000 rooms in the pipeline in Makkah and Madinah.

On the development front, Dur Hospitality is set to open the Diplomatic Quarter Marriott Hotel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia by Q4 this year. “We are very excited about that project, it’s a flagship for the company. It’s the first hotel in Saudi Arabia to be LEED certified,” he added.
