There have been a large number of new openings in the Middle East in Q2 2018. In no particular order, this week on What's Trending on Hotelier Middle East, we take a look at some of the hot, new hotel openings in the region.

One of the most notable entries in this quarter was Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts new hotel in Tunis. The new Mövenpick Hotel du Lac Tunis has 189 rooms and suites. Mövenpick Hotel du Lac Tunis is Mövenpick’s third property in Tunisia and its 23rd in Africa with five additional hotels set to open in the region by 2020.

Tunisia’s tourism registered a 23% year-on-year growth in the first three months of 2018, according to a government report. The hotel’s GM Nicolas Pezout was quoted as saying “From wellness, foodie and culture breaks, family holidays and wedding parties, to business trips, corporate retreats and board meetings, Mövenpick Hotel du Lac Tunis suits every occasion, offering guests first-class facilities and upscale modern accommodation in a convenient and stunning location."

The other major hotel opening is The Kingfisher Lodge in Khor Kalba, part of the “Sharjah Collection” by South Africa-based Mantis Hospitality, is now welcoming visitors in its soft opening phase. Situated on the Gulf of Oman coast on the Omani border, the property with mangroves, tidal creeks and beaches is designed to drive eco-tourism with its 25 tents that offer complete privacy to guests.

Address Downtown, the flagship hotel under Emaar Hospitality Group’s Address Hotels + Resorts brand in Dubai, has reopened its doors to hotel guests after a New Year's Eve fire in December 2015. Address Downtown has reopened with new restaurant concepts, additional rooms and suites, The Spa at Address Downtown, and a brand-new interior design.

Another hotel on the list is Form Hotel Dubai. It has opened its flagship property, in Dubai’s Cultural Village, in the Al Jadaf neighbourhood. The 15-storey hotel also represents the latest addition to the Design Hotels collection; the first Dubai-based member to be selected.

Another regional openings was W Hotels Worldwide's W Amman opening, the brand’s first property in Jordan. The property was originally scheduled to open in January 2018. The hotel, which is developed by Eagle Hills Jordan, offers 236 rooms and 44 suites. W Amman is the first collaborative project between Marriott International and Eagle Hills Jordan. The collaboration will continue as three more projects are slated to open across Jordan — The St. Regis Amman, The Westin Saraya Aqaba and Al Manara, a luxury collection hotel, Saraya Aqaba
