Raffles Dubai has made two senior appointments to its leadership team. Sushant Pawar joins as cluster director of engineering and Mohamed Al Bahrawy re-joins the property as assistant director of sales & marketing.

Pawar, who took a transfer from Accor’s Fairmont The Palm, will bring 16 years of experience in the luxury hospitality field and will be will be responsible for overseeing day to day engineering operations, planned maintenance and strategic improvements of Raffles Dubai as well as the new opening of Sofitel Wafi.

At Fairmont The Palm, Pawar was part of the pre-opening team and held the position of director of engineering. During his tenure of six years, he was awarded Hotel Engineer of the Year at the Hotelier Middle East Awards in 2014 and the Fairmont Global Award for Ideas Count. The hotel was also the first property on Palm Jumeirah to receive the Green Key Certificate in 2015.

Starting his career as an assistant engineer Pawar worked his way up in various five star hotel chains such as Rezidor and Elite Hospitality in his native India, Bahrain and Oman before relocating to the Radisson Blu Hotel Downtown Dubai in 2010 as director of engineering. Pawar holds a degree in engineering from the Mumbai University and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environment Design) as well as GBCI (Green Building Certification Inc).

Al Bahrawy re-joins the team at Raffles Dubai where he previously held the role of director of sales, leisure between 2011 and 2013.

Previously, Al Bahrawy served as the director of business development at The H Dubai. He brings more than 18 years of experience working in sales & marketing, events and food & beverage within luxury hotels.

Al Bahrawy has also held the position of director of sales & marketing at Grand Millenium Al Wahda in Abu Dhabi and Kempinski Hotel in Ajman as well as director of business development in Beach Rotana Hotel Abu Dhabi and director of sales in Fairmont Bab Al Bahr. Al Bahrawy holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Hotel Management from the Misr University for Science and Technology and has various Hospitality certifications from Cornell University and Master Connection Associates.
