Users in Dubai and Jeddah who tried to use food delivery app RoundMenu yesterday were asked to update their app to Careem NOW, as the ride-hailing service rebranded its platform.

Careem purchased RoundMenu, the restaurant listings service, earlier in the year and since then had been trialling food delivery, with the move now being made to take it under the Careem umbrella.

In a statement, Careem NOW said: “We’ve started by launching in Dubai and Jeddah, and Egypt and Pakistan will soon follow, but we aim to make Careem NOW the biggest online delivery platform for goods and services in the region, and over $150 million will be invested in Careem NOW, reflecting our level of commitment in creating a first-class delivery service.”
