HTMi Switzerland Dubai has formally agreed with the Hotel and Tourism Management Institute (HTMi) Switzerland to bring Swiss educational programmes and experiences to the UAE’s hospitality and tourism sector.
The HTMi Switzerland Dubai campus, which is set to open in April 2019, will provide facilities and courses for both Emirati and international students.
According to a statement from HTMi Switzerland Dubai, the courses will have Swiss accreditation, and training will centre on the UAE’s bid to become the world’s number one tourist destination by 2020.
Vision 2020 is a strategic roadmap by Dubai’s Department of Tourism with the key objective of attracting 20 million visitors a year by 2020.
Emirati graduate studies commence in April with HTMi’s Diploma course in Hospitality Management, which according to a statement, is the first ever Swiss-Certified UAE National Diploma. The institute will also deliver the “first” cabin crew training programme
In August 2019, the institute will also launch the Diploma in International Hotel and Tourism Management, Higher Diploma in International Culinary Arts and Diploma in Restaurant Management programmes.
H.E. Ahmad Bin Byat, managing partner of HTMi Switzerland Dubai, said: “Our training focuses on the future of hospitality in the region, teaching specific guest-experience techniques required for the evolution of the industry. In the last two years, the UAE has witnessed the opening of numerous theme parks and tourist attractions, along with continuing building projects to deliver an additional 40,000 hotel rooms in anticipation of Expo 2020. This rapid development requires numerous new roles to be created to ensure those projects succeed, highlighting the need for a highly-trained hospitality workforce.”
Managing director of HTMi International Development Group Ian Larmour, said: “With increasingly more hotels opening for Expo 2020 and tourist attractions too, it is the prime city to bring our established expertise in the hospitality and tourism industry to help train Emiratis and international students fulfil their own and the nation’s dreams.”
H.E. Ahmad Bin Byat went on to say how internships are at the very core of HTMi teaching methods.
