Aloft Hotel Abu Dhabi has appointed Todd James Hunter as Executive Chef in charge of Food and Beverage.

Todd began his career in Australia, at the crossroads between Sydney and the Hunter Valley, at his parent’s award winning restaurant at the tender age of 16.

Having gained this valuable experience at home, Todd then decided to see the world and embarked upon an adventure that led him from Australia via London, to the Caribbean, through Central and Southern America, finally to settle in London once more.

His first stay in London led him to the famous ‘Smith of Smithfield’s’ Restaurant, under the direction of celebrity chef John Torode. After a nine month travelling tour he returned to the shores of the UK again, to be a part of the opening of what was to become the Michelin starred restaurant, Zuma.

With a taste for the Orient, Todd then travelled to Asia and experienced the flavours, cultures and cuisines of Japan, Cambodia and Vietnam before heading off to India. Learning from the local chefs in each area visited, discovering new tastes and techniques, and eating fresh locally produced fish, fruit and vegetables, Todd was armed with all the experience he needed in order to test his newly found knowledge out on the UAE market.

At the opening of The Grosvenor House Hotel in Dubai, Todd held the position of Sous Chef at the world renowned Buddha Bar, where after a short time he was appointed Chef De Cuisine. His passion for entertaining guests led him onto becoming Executive Sous Chef at the Grosvenor House, where Todd continued to strive for excellence of quality and authenticity.

Aloft Abu Dhabi, the first Starwood Aloft brand in the Middle East, are proud to have Todd join their team as Executive Chef in charge of Food and Beverage, where he has already demonstrated his capable abilities in leading his team since the opening of this exciting new Hotel in October 2009.
