The World Trade Center Hotel in New York says its views of the site where the 9/11 attacks took place is a selling point for the property, according to a report in the Associated Press.

Vice president of Club Quarters Inc, the company behind the hotel, Cheryl Palmer said people “choose to be here because they want to be close to it”.

“They want to feel it, they want to celebrate. They want to remember — we have a very accessible view on it " Palmer said.

The hotel, which is still under construction, began taking reservations last month.

In a bid to eliminate the sound of construction, the hotel has also installed soundproof windows along with dark curtains to block light from the work.

While opinions on the project have been mixed Palmer believed it would be a success.

"They will have all those mixed emotions. But I think at the end of the day what people leave here with is the rebuilding," Palmer said.
