The much-anticipated Armani Hotel Dubai will miss its scheduled opening date for a second time, Arabian Business has learned.

The luxury hotel, housed in Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, was scheduled to open on March 18 but the launch ceremony has now been pushed back to April 22, a source confirmed.

A collaboration between famed Italian designer Giorgio Armani and Emaar Properties, the 160-room hotel was initially scheduled to open last year. However, construction delays at the Burj Khalifa meant the hotel’s launch date was pushed back.

It is thought delays in the final fit-out of the hotel are to blame for the revised April launch date.

Armani Hotels and Resorts launched in 2005 as a joint venture between the fashion house Giorgio Armani and the developer Emaar Properties.

The opening of the Armani Hotel in Dubai will be followed by the launch of the Armani Hotel Milano.

Other properties underway include the first Armani Resort, planned for Marrakech, and the first Armani Residences villas, for Marassi in Egypt.

Further Armani hotels, resorts and residences will open subsequently in key international destinations such as New York, Tokyo, Shanghai and London.
