The Westin Dubai Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina has announced the appointment of Stephane Buchholzer as executive chef at The Westin, overlooking culinary operations at Le Meridien Mina Seyahi.

Stephane was born in Alsace and began his career at the culinary school in the South of France. By the age of 15 he graduated to Master Chef, becoming the youngest person in France to do so.

He studied in England, learning the language, before touring round France gaining invaluable experience from some of the greatest chefs in the best Michelin Starred restaurants in France.

Securing a position at the world famous 2 Michelin Starred restaurant, “Jean Shillinger”, with top chef Jean-Yves Shillinger, Stephane was asked to join him in the United States, where he contributed to the opening of Chef Shillinger’s first New York restaurant, Destinee.

At Chef Shillinger’s second New York restaurant, L’Actuel, on East 50th in Manhattan, Stephane was appointed Executive Chef at the tender age of 24. The New York Times review resulted in a 2 Star rating for the restaurant, which was described as “The most modern deluxe brasserie in New York City”, and glowing praise of the new Executive Chef.

Moving on to the opening of Suba, a three floored contemporary Latin restaurant also in NYC, Stephane created a menu of French/Spanish fusion, Tapas and fine dining experience which also received praise from the New York Times critics.

Relocating next to Dubai, Stephane brought his innovative gastronomic style and futuristic vision to the daringly different Tang restaurant in Le Meridien Mina Seyahi. A contemporary Japanese and French fusion dining experience that has been described as “a unique gastronomic discovery”, Tang and the newly opened Raw Bar Lounge are constantly evolving to bring diners excellence and perfection in a raw and molecular cocktail.
