Al Areen Holding Company has responded to Banyan Tree Hotel and Resort Holding’s contract termination in Bahrain, which was managing Banyan Tree Resort at Al Areen.

CEO of Al Areen Holding Company Tariq Al Jowder claimed the hotel management agreement had been unilaterally terminated by BTHR as a result of the discovery by AAHC of “many violations committed by BTHR including but not limited to negligence, mismanagement and betrayal of trust”.

Al Jowder added that it led “to a negative impact on the edifice of tourism in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the interests of AAHC where BTHR has not been in compliance with their obligations under the HMA”.

The statement released by the company also claimed that BTHR “failed to perform their obligations in accordance with HMA and the commercial market standards in maintaining the standard of the assets expected in such high end tourist destinations”.

However, Al Areen said that the resort would continue to operate without any interruption and would endeavor to offer guests a five-star service.

The company has appointed Khalid Anib as the new general manager of the resort and Al Jowder confirmed that the owners reserved the right to take “all legal action available to it”.

Anib also said that the name of the resort could be changed to Al Areen Palace and Spa, after obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals.

Furthermore, Al Jowder said that AAHC had been approached by various internationally recognised luxury hotels and spa operators, adding that such offers were in their final negotiation stages and that the new operator’s name would be announced very soon.
