Only two people from travel and hospitality made it onto Arabian Business’s Expat 50 list this year.

Executive chairman of Jumeirah group Gerald Lawless stayed on the list, but fell from 17 to 34, while CEO of TDIC Lee Tabler was a new entry at 35.

The list is a compilation of the most influential expatriates in the Gulf.

Tabler was in for being “the leading light behind the Abu Dhabi Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC)”.

Arabian Business continued: “Lee Tabler is responsible for the landmark projects that will bring tourists flocking into the emirate.

“And with added tourism a vital plank of Abu Dhabi’s Plan 2030 vision, the TDIC chief executive has a tough job ahead of him as he structures some of the biggest hospitality and entertainment projects in the Gulf.”

Lawless was in for having “overseen the launch of some of the emirate’s most famous icons, such as the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the Burj Al Arab Hotel”.
