Five candidates have made it through to the shortlist for the Hotelier Middle East Awards IT Person of the Year.

There was stiff competition for the coveted award, but ultimately there were several nominees who stood out from the crowd.

Ligesh Gopi, Systems Manager, Doha Marriott Hotel
Ligesh is a one man department reporting directly into the Regional Area team and handles all the IT requests from the front-of-the-house, the guests, and the back –of-the-house, his colleagues, on his own.

Nic Bilenkij, Cluster Director of Information Technology, Madinat Jumeirah
Nic's passionate about what he does and goes all out in supporting his team and business in achieving great results. One of Nic’s greatest strengths is the ability to successfully deliver.

Hakam Al Sourani, IT/AV Director, Emirates Palace Hotel
With four years of service, Hakam Al Sourani gives his best for the department and to the hotel to achieve the latest technology and provides it effectively not only the hotel’s guest but also to the people working in Emirates Palace.

Ahmed Abdel Raouf, IT Manager, Dar Al Tawhid InterContinental
Ahmed has full competence in IT aspects and has contributed towards leading and maintaining hotel position to the market leader in terms of IT related aspects.

Mehmet Akdeniz, Area Director of IT, Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi
Mehmet has an enthusiastic passion for information technology, its latest trends and is always on top of the newest system, invention or gadget which will improve the workflow in the hotel and make colleagues' lives easier.

The winner will be announced at the Hotelier Middle East Awards, which will be held on October 14 at Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai.
