Mounir Melliti from InterContinental Riyadh won the Hotelier Middle East Fitness and Recreation Person 2010 at an awards ceremony on Thursday.
Under Mounir’s tenure as recreation manager at InterContinental Riyadh, the hotel has established a reputation as a sporting destination in the city.
Mounir has grown the health health club into a main player in managing and organising social sports big scale events. This year, he attracted more than 256 players to the Desert Classic Tennis Tournament, making it the biggest tennis event in the Kingdom.

Accepting the award on behalf of Melliti, Norbert Borszcz, executive assistant manager in charge of food and beverage, Intercontinental Hotel Jeddah, said: “He would be so proud if he was here tonight. Things like this come once in your life.”
Pradeep Fernando, Le Méridien Al Aqah Beach Resort and Sameh Adel Hassan, Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi were Highly Commended.
