Should all hotels blacklist guests who misbehave?

While I do have sympathy for hotel staff in these situations it is a bit much to completely ban someone. After all everyone's interpretation of misbehaviour is a bit different isn't it. If it is brought in it should only be for repeat offenders or serious misdemeanours.

Absolutely not. Everyone can have a bad day and once you are on the blacklist it is out there for ever. This is self policing and if a hotel staff for whatever reason dislike a guest he could end up on the list for no raeson. Serious offenders should be dealt with by senior hotel staff or police. When guests treat staff in a rude or offensive manner, management should immediately address the guest and in no misleading terms tell him/her this is totally unacceptable and if he/she does not change attitude he/she is not welcome and will have to leave the hotel. Have done this myself many times and it works fine.
