Ramada Hotel & Suites Ajman has launched an urban farm project, which it plans to cultivate year-round for use in the hotel’s kitchen.

The hotel's farm, launched on Earth Day to promote the importance of green communities worldwide, stands on 430 sq m of car park and will grow seasonal vegetables and crops for use by its chefs.

A team from Ramana Arjman has been tasked with looking after the farm during assigned periods to ensure it is properly maintained without disrupting the property’s usual hotel operations.

Iftikhar Hamdani, the hotel's general manager, said: “This urban farm is another groundbreaking project of the property which will help not only the hotel but also the environment. We intend to nurture this garden all year round and not just during Earth Day, and plan to take this initiative to a larger scale.

“In addition, we want to impart a message to all industry professionals that all of us have a role to play in preserving and nurturing our environment and this can be achieved through determination and commitment.”

With more than 1 billion supporters, Earth Day is observed every 22 April in more than 100 countries.
