Minor Hotel Group’s Avani Hotels & Resorts has opened its first hotel in Thailand – Avanti Atrium Bangkok.

Located in the Asoke-Sukhumvit area of Bangkok, the conversion property previously operated as Atrium Bangkok and has undergone a US $8 million, 10-month refurbishment.

The hotel features 568 guest rooms and suites in a range of categories and sizes. The top levels of the 23-storey hotel house the Executive Floors, with guestrooms that include 40-inch LCD TVs, upgraded amenities, and an executive lounge with access to breakfast and complimentary evening cocktails and canapés.

The hotels public areas include restaurants and bars, and a 12-storey atrium lobby, which showcases a six-metre high artwork. The Design for Life signature to Avani creates a lifestyle and meeting hub for guests to interact in the lobby, while the Connect zone offers easy access to the internet.

The lobby café, Pantry, offers snacks and light meals and drinks. All-day dining restaurant Public also offers refreshments at the pool, and Japanese teppanyaki restaurant Benihana is due to open in early 2015.  Other facilities at the hotel include a pool, gym, and salon. The hotel also offers seven meeting rooms.

The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle bus service to Makkasan Station, which operates an airport rail link to Suvarnabhumi International Airport every hour. The hotel is also well placed for expressway access to Bangkok’s two airports, as well as popular parts of the city.

Minor Hotel Group CEO Dilip Rajakarier said: “We are excited to add Thailand to the growing list of countries our upscale Avani brand is present in, which is now five and a total of seven properties. For Minor Hotel Group introducing our newest brand to our home market of Bangkok was very important to us and we are confident that Avani is a great fit in this vibrant city.”

Avani Hotels & Resorts was launched in 2011 to complement Minor Hotel Group’s five-star Anantara brand. The brand currently has six properties in operation in Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Malaysia and Mozambique, with a pipeline of further openings in Asia, the Indian Ocean and Africa. MHG has plans to grow the brand across Asia, India and the Indian Ocean and in the Middle East.
