The lifeguard team at Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort has been crowned the winner of the 9th edition of the UAE National Lifeguard Championship.
Held at St Regis Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi on November 30, the event saw 150 lifeguards, across 28 teams, participate in a series of challenges, including a 1km beach Run, a 400m surf swim, and a 120m rescue tube rescue.
"The UAE National LifeGuard Championship is the most prestigious annual event for lifeguards in the UAE, this year being our 9th event, saw the highest number of teams participating and competing for the championship title,” said Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort general manager Patrick Antaki.

“The event is the culmination of their commitment to duty, training, their ability to save lives and to boost their morale.
“Though all teams performed exceptionally well, I am delighted that the lifeguard team of Le Meridian Al Aqah Beach Resort bagged the number one spot in the competition!"
The UAE National Lifeguard Championship was first held in 2006 and has since become a major event for the profession in the country.
